Soybean originates from China around 3000 BC. Until the 18th century, it was primarily grown in China, Korea, and Japan. It is assumed that Benjamin Franklin made it in America. After that, soy cultivation spread worldwide; today, it is the leading oil crop.

Different varieties of soybeans grow depending on many conditions. This plant can reach a height of 20 cm to even two meters. Both the height of the plant and the seeds and pods of soybeans can be of different sizes and colors - black, green, brown, yellow, blue, or colorful.

In commercial production, the height of the plant is from 80 to 120 cm. The fruit is a pod containing five grains. The soybean root is as deep as the plant is tall. The bacterium Bradyrhizobium Japonicum develops a symbiosis with the soybean, feeds on carbohydrates from the roots, and supplies the plant with nitrogen. Before sowing soybeans, it is necessary to "infect" the soil with this bacteria.

Deep, rich in humus soil, is best for growing soybeans. Development and yield depend mainly on the amount of light and moisture.

Soybean varieties are divided into thirteen groups according to the photoperiod reaction and the length of the vegetation period. Resistance to drought, lodging, diseases, and high yield is what a good variety represents.

Soybeans are rich in oils and proteins. They are widely used in human and animal nutrition. As a rich source of protein, many people use it as a substitute for meat due to its high energy value.

They also play a role in the production of cheese, milk, hot dogs, and sweets. In animal nutrition, they are used as green mass, silage and hay.

The post Soja appeared first on Frueko.

Wheat originates from the Levant and the Middle East. It was created by the selection of wild grasses that produced seeds with certain characteristics. Throughout history, this cereal has spread throughout the world as a basic source for the production of flour and alcohol, and more recently, biofuel. Today, wheat makes up about a quarter of all arable land on the planet.

Types of wheat are divided into three groups. Hexaploid species are common wheat and spelled. Tetraploid species are durum wheat, emmer wheat and Khorasan wheat (antique species).

A diploid species is monocotyledonous wheat. When choosing a variety, we recommend those that are of good quality, resistant to climatic conditions and lodging, high yielding and stable yield.

This cereal grows best on deep, moderately moist soil, moderately acidic, rich in humus. It is very sensitive to the quality of the soil in relation to the yield, and it is best suited to meadow chernozem, chernozem and alluvial soils without groundwater.

According to the sowing time, wheat can be winter (autumn sowing) and spring (spring sowing). The choice of variety also depends on the time of sowing, as well as on resistance to cold and heat, the amount of moisture and other climatic conditions.

The humidity of the ground is very important. Adequate amounts of precipitation, as well as proper irrigation during the period of leafing and grading directly affect the quantity and quality of the yield.

The post Pšenica appeared first on Frueko.

Corn is an annual plant that thrives best on slightly acidic, fertile soil.

Corn has been present in the human diet for 7000 years. It comes from the Aztecs, who inhabited the territory of today's Central Mexico. They treated it in a special way in order to make tortillas from its flour.

The migration of Indian tribes spread throughout the American continent, so the colonists brought it to Europe in the fifteenth century.

Nowadays, 60% of the corn yield is used for feeding livestock, while about 20% is used for human consumption. It is present on the table every day, starting with corn flour, through boiled corn, and up to the world-famous popcorn.

Corn is an annual plant that thrives best in slightly acidic, fertile soil. The length of the vegetation period depends on the cultivation method and the variety, i.e., types of hybrids. Hybrids can be early, medium and late, with a growing season ranging from 90 to 145 days.

In addition to the quality of the soil, good weather conditions are necessary for growth. Suppose the outside temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius. In that case, it slows down the germination and growth of the plant, while very high temperatures without sufficient irrigation also slow down the growth and quality of the fruit.

Six subspecies of corn are known: dent, flint, flour, sweet, pop, and waxy. Sugar corn is by far the most widely used in human nutrition.

Corn kernels are rich in fiber, vitamins, carotenoids, and many other ingredients beneficial for our health.

They positively affect vision, lower cholesterol levels, and reduce the risk of cataracts, diabetes, cancer, and osteoporosis.

The post Kukuruz appeared first on Frueko.
